Message from Mayor Ted R. Green
The COVID-19 Pandemic has drastically changed the world as we know it, and the health and well-being of our community is our top priority. We continue to work closely with our local, state and federal agencies, along with numerous external organizations, to protect the lives and livelihoods of the people who live, work and invest in East Orange.
As one community, we have done a tremendous job of adhering to COVID-19 safety guidelines and supporting our small businesses. Yet, we must remain steadfast. The phased re-opening of our restaurants, gyms, and other non-essential businesses is a first step toward economic recovery, but we must continue to work collectively working toward a goal of normalcy in order to ensure our long-term success.
This website, created under the leadership of the Department of Policy, Planning and Development, has been a valuable resource and tool for helping our local business community navigate pandemic-related challenges, while also allowing them an outlet to thrive in an online marketplace.
In this new business paradigm, the ability to adapt and innovate is at the core of sustainability and we are collaborating with our retailers to help them pivot and grow. More than ever, now is the time to shop local. Our city grows stronger when we do.
May God continue to bless you, your family and East Orange.
